Eight year old Charlie, son of Mike Reiter, has taken first place in the 7 & 8 year old division of the Southern California Regional Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip and Putt Championship. Standing at only four foot four inches and weighing sixty pounds, Charlie will receive an all expense paid hotel and flight for the televised national championship in Orlando, Florida on August 30th. Charlie finished in the top three in the San Diego qualifier to compete in the finals. In the qualifier, he also won the long drive medal with drives of 200 and 222 yards and followed those up with long drives in the finals of 210 and 220 yards. In a win or go home situation, Charlie won the finals in a playoff of two putts. With the pressure on and a crowd of 150 people watching, he sank his first five foot putt and hit his second fifteen foot putt to within nine inches of the hole to take first place. Only the winner of each division gets to go to the finals.
